Previously on Marvel Future Fight: We celebrated Marvel’s 80th anniversary with Namor, Wave, Silver Surfer, and Galactus. Now, with the v540 update, we enter the Danger Room with Kitty Pryde, Kid Omega, and Rachel Summers!
Riot at Xavier’s
As I live and breathe, it’s Quintavius Quirinius Quire. I expected Netmarble to go through some more classic X-characters before digging into the relatively newer ones, but nope, here’s Quentin Quire. Kid frickin’ Omega. Murderous revolutionary teenager who, for some reason, everybody’s cool with? I don’t understand it, but hey, he’s not a paid character, so he’s OK I guess.
Prestige
Bringing some prestige into Marvel Future Fight is Rachel Summers, one of the most unnecessarily convoluted characters in comics. I haven’t unlocked her yet because I have yet to win a single Danger Room battle (more on this later), but if she’s anywhere near as good as Jean Grey, could she be part of the new meta? I actually don’t know what that means.
Welcome to Marvel Future Fight, Kitty Pryde. Hope you survive the experience!
I may or may not be in love with Kitty Pryde (I am), so this may or may not be my favorite Future Fight update of all time (it is). I may or may not care about how good a character she is (I don’t), but I know I’m going to have fun using her to fight robots, ninjas, and random street thugs.
I love you, Kitty Pryde, star of the greatest comic book panel in X-Men history.
D-D-D-Danger Room
The last few new game modes didn’t really fly for me. I don’t have the luxury of playing World Event at very specific times of the day and I just don’t do well in co-op modes like Giant Boss Raid. This is probably why I’m never getting Silver Surfer.
However, the Danger Room feels like a more manageable version of Giant Boss Raid. It still requires you to play with other actual humans but you won’t get kicked out of the lobby before you even start the game by some asshole who didn’t get enough hugs when they were a young child.
Anyway. It’s also cool that one of my favorite things in X-Men lore is now a big part of Marvel Future Fight.
The only problem I have with the new Danger Room game mode is that I suck and I always get paired up with other people who also suck. I’ve played several battles already and I still haven’t won a single battle.
Phoenix Three
New costumes for Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Colossus are also included in this update. They can now lay waste to PvE and PvP game modes as members of the Phoenix Five. They all look great literally being on fire. I hope Namor and Magik also get their Phoenix Five costumes soon.
Overall, I’m happy with the addition of Kid Omega, Rachel Summers, manic pixie mutant dream girl Kitty Pryde, and a new game mode. I’m amazed at how this game is still constantly adding new things that don’t feel like they’re jumping the shark. Keep it up, Netmarble!
